ABOUT
Tetris is a puzzle game first created in the Soviet Union by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. Blocks made of four squares fall from the top of the screen, and you turn and move them to fill complete lines, which then disappear. Nintendo released this Game Boy version in Japan in 1989, shortly after the Game Boy itself went on sale.
Its rules take seconds to learn, which made it perfect for a handheld you could play on the train or during a break, and two players could compete using a link cable. It sold very well in Japan and helped make the Game Boy a success.
