ABOUT

Super Mario 64 was released together with the Nintendo 64 in Japan in June 1996. For the first time, Mario could move freely in a 3D world, controlled with the console's new analog stick. You jump into paintings inside Princess Peach's castle and collect Power Stars in each world.

Its camera and controls showed many other game makers how a 3D action game could work. Running, jumping and exploring simply felt fun, and it is still often named as one of the most influential games ever made.
