ABOUT

Pokémon Red and Green are role-playing games for the Game Boy, developed by Game Freak, created by Satoshi Tajiri and published by Nintendo. You travel the Kanto region catching creatures called Pokémon, train them in battles and aim to become the champion. Outside Japan they were released as Pokémon Red and Blue.

Each version has some Pokémon the other does not, so completing your collection meant trading with friends using a link cable. Word spread among children, and the games grew into a huge hit in Japan, followed by a card game and a TV anime in 1997. Pokémon then became a global brand.
