About
Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
Character analysis
Yuji eats a cursed finger belonging to Sukuna, one of the most powerful curses in existence, to stop his classmates from being killed by it, and that choice merges him with Sukuna's consciousness for the rest of the story. His straightforward, protective decency is constantly tested by sharing his body with something that doesn't value human life at all.
Megumi fights using shikigami, summoned shadow creatures, with a cold, calculating style that contrasts sharply with Yuji's straightforward brawling. His blunt, outcome-focused worldview softens gradually as his bond with Yuji and the rest of their class deepens.
Nobara left her rural hometown determined to live life entirely on her own terms, and that same stubborn self-confidence carries into her unconventional, genuinely brutal fighting style. She refuses to play a supporting role to Yuji or Megumi, insisting on her own space in every fight she's part of.
Gojo is openly, overwhelmingly the most powerful character in the story, and his breezy, teasing attitude toward his own students and toward mortal danger reflects just how rarely anything actually threatens him. The story uses his casual confidence as both comic relief and a measure of how serious a threat actually is whenever he stops joking.
Sukuna is widely regarded as the most powerful curse in history, and his detached, often mocking cruelty toward Yuji and everyone else sits in constant tension with Yuji's own values. Sharing a body with him forces Yuji into an arrangement that's never fully stable or safe.
Status evaluation
Fluid, high-energy fight choreography is a consistent strength, especially in the series' most acclaimed arcs.
The curse-and-sorcery premise and Yuji's shared body with Sukuna give the series a strong central hook and stakes.
Gojo's teasing, confident attitude and classroom banter keep the tone from staying grim for too long.
Character deaths and personal sacrifices land with real, often brutal weight.
Curse designs and some encounters carry real horror-adjacent tension.
Battles involve frequent, fairly graphic violence and injury.
A detailed cursed-energy system and large cast of sorcerers and curses ask for real attention to follow.

“Swallowing a cursed finger to save your classmates is the kind of decision that immediately tells you how this story is going to go.”
