About

Kyousuke Kasuga and his family had just moved to a new town to start over after being discovered the Kasuga family has ESP powers. Soon after transferring to his new school, he meets two delinquents Madoka Ayukawa and Hikaru Hiyama. Together, the three main characters develop a strong love triangle that lasts through the rest of their high school lives.

Character analysis

Kyosuke KasugaA boy with psychic powers, torn between two girls in his new school

Kyosuke's family has had to move repeatedly after his psychic abilities caused trouble in previous towns, and settling into a new school means trying to keep his powers secret while somehow also sorting out his feelings for two very different girls at once.

Madoka AyukawaA tough, standoffish delinquent hiding real vulnerability underneath

Madoka's reputation as a delinquent keeps most people at arm's length, and her gradual, guarded openness with Kyosuke reveals a much softer, more uncertain person than her tough exterior suggests.

Hikaru HiyamaA cheerful, straightforward classmate who falls for Kyosuke without any of his hesitation

Hikaru's feelings for Kyosuke are open and uncomplicated compared to the push-and-pull between him and Madoka, which makes the story's central love triangle genuinely painful, she's not the obstacle, she's just someone who deserves honesty she doesn't get for a long time.

Manami KasugaKyosuke's younger sister, also psychic and far less careful about hiding it

Manami shares her brother's psychic abilities but is nowhere near as cautious about concealing them, her more reckless use of power adding both comedy and real risk to the family's attempts to live a normal life.

Editor's comment

Rifu

“A psychic kid trying to keep his powers secret is almost beside the point, this is really a story about how hard it is to be honest with two people at once.”
