Pick by trip type

Where to stay depends on how you arrive and what kind of trip it is. Choose your airport, then find your trip.

First visit · Fukuoka-focused tripStay inTenjin

Tenjin

Tenjin is the centre of the city, eleven minutes from the airport on the Kuko subway line with no change. Base yourself here and most of what a first visit covers is on foot or a short subway ride.

Fukuoka plus the shinkansenStay inHakata Station

Hakata Station

If you move on by shinkansen, stay by Hakata Station. It is five minutes from the airport on the subway, and on the morning you leave the platform is a short walk from your hotel.

Early-morning arrivalStay inHakata Station

Hakata Station

Check-in is hours away when you land in the morning. Hakata Station is the closest area to the airport, five minutes on the subway, so you can leave your bags at the hotel and start the day almost straight away.

Late-night arrivalStay inHakata Station

Hakata Station

Fukuoka Airport is unusually close to the city, so a late landing is not a problem. Hakata Station is five minutes away on the subway, the shortest run from the airport to any area here.

Travelling with childrenStay inMomochi

Momochi

Momochi is a seaside area by Fukuoka Tower. It is one subway line from the airport with no change, as far as Nishijin Station.

On a budget · Long stayStay inNakasu-Kawabata

Nakasu-Kawabata

Nakasu-Kawabata sits between Hakata Station and Tenjin, so both are close for day-to-day life, and room prices suit a longer stay. It is lively until late, so choose a room away from the busiest streets.

Couples · A quieter stayStay inOhori Park

Ohori Park

For calm evenings, stay near Ohori Park, on the west side of the centre. It is on the same subway line from the airport, and Tenjin is a few stops away when you want to go out.
